DRAFT TEAM CHECKPOINT: Planned models and project outline
- Due Oct 31, 2018 by 11:59pm
- Points 200
- Submitting a website url
This is a checkpoint. It will be assessed by looking at your team Google Doc submission; your work on your shared project will automatically be updated as you continue to work on the project.
For this checkpoint, please have each individual on the team identify the model(s) they intend to run. Please justify, in each case, why this would be a valuable analysis. The best way to justify the analysis is by identifying what managers could do with the information--the kinds of decisions your work will inform.
These very brief descriptions of your intended analysis should appear in each of the analysis subsections where the individual analyses will actually be presented. Please change your section headings to more meaningful titles and include (temporarily) the name of each team member as part of the section header.
Completing the above (and refreshing your table of contents) will automatically create an updated project outline.
Your assignment might look something like this:
Factors affecting success in statistics courses -Eva Witesman
In order to encourage success in the MPA statistics course (MPA 630), this analysis will focus on identifying which of five key factors influence success in the MPA statistics course. Success in the statistics course is operationalized as the final exam score, which is an interval scale from 0-1000 points. The five factors being examined are:
1. Number of hours studied
2. Prior experience with statistics
3. Undergraduate GPA
4. GRE math score
5. Class attendance
In addition to these independent variables, the model will include several demographic variables as controls, including the following:
1. Age
2. Gender
3. Statistics group assignment
4. Personality type
The results of this model will help us to determine whether we need to change any prerequisites for the statistics course, or if additional studying or contact with the professor should be encouraged.
