Grading Policies
Grades
Your grade will be based on the following:
- Class (and overall course) participation including in-class exercises (10%)
- Lab Assignments (30%)
- Quizzes (15%)
- Course Project (20%)
- Final, written exam (25%)
Course Participation
This is more than just showing up for class. In part it's based on your overall class participation, but also takes into account the results of in-class group design exercises. Ultimately, I reserve the right to base your participation grade solely on my subjective judgment.
Course Project
The course will require that students complete a project emphasizing the knowledge and skills taught in the course.
Late Policy
Students are encouraged to meet project deadlines. I want to see all students complete every lab by the end of the semester. You are expected to complete each project or assignment by the time it is due. If you must turn an assignment in late, please get permission from Professor Windley.
Final Exam
The final exam for this class will be a written exam emphasizing the lab material and the course content. The final exam will be design oriented and you will be required to make architectural and implementation decisions about proposed systems. The course project will be your best guide in preparing for this work. If you don't participate fully in the assignments and the project, don't expect to do well on the exam.
