Sending Messages/Emails to Students
Based on experiences with previous learning management systems, some teachers expect students to receive email notifications after they have added announcements, posted grades, changed a due date, commented on a discussion post, assigned groups, or scheduled an appointment. In some cases, students will receive email notifications. However, teachers should never assume that every student is being notified of any change in Canvas. This is because students control their own notification settings. If a teacher wants to make sure that students receive an email, he or she should message the students directly (by using the Inbox feature in Canvas).
