Khanmigo Teacher Tools (Canvas LTI for Teachers)

General Information 

Khanmigo Teacher Tools is a free LTI integration with Canvas LMS that is available through a partnership between Khan Academy and Instructure here at BYU. It uses artificial intelligence to generate instructional materials for teachers and TAs in both K-12 and Higher Ed settings.

Khanmigo Teacher Tools is not a deep integration with Canvas - It allows teachers to create and access Khanmigo resources from within Canvas, and essentially embeds the Khanmigo application in the Canvas interface. However, teachers will find they need to copy-and-paste any materials generated by Khanmigo from the Khanmigo tool into whichever Canvas resource they are needed.

Installing the Tool In Your Course

Here at BYU, teachers should follow these steps to add the Khanmigo Teacher Tools link in their course navigation:

1. Navigate to Settings in your course navigation bar
2. Select the Apps tab
3. Select View App Configurations
4. Click on the +App button
5. In the dialog box, for "Configuration type," select By Client ID
6. In the Client ID field, enter this number exactly: 74070000000000373
7. Select Submit
8. Refresh your page / browser to update the Course Settings page
9. Go into the Navigation tab
10. Find the Khanmigo Teacher Tools link (in the inactive or bottom link stack)
11. Enable the Khanmigo link or drag it to the top link stack
12. Save your changes

You may need to reload your browser page, and/or navigate to another page in your Canvas course. You should then see Khanmigo Teacher Tools appear as a link option in your course navigation. (This will only appear for you, other teachers, and TAs - It will not be displayed or available for students.)
