You can email us your questions, and we can often provide answers via email, however, it’s easiest, many times, if you send us a screencast. This way, instead of telling us, “Professor! When I hit the button, it doesn’t do the thing it’s supposed to but gives me an error message!” you can instead SHOW us what button you pushed, and what happened. This is much easier for us to diagnose the problem! Since screencasting is valuable in this class for communication between you and us (and because screencasting is valuable as a teacher for communicating with students!), we want you to begin class by earning the Screencasting Badge. To earn this first badge:
- Go to the Screencasting Badge Links to an external site. rubric on Badgr.io
- Copy and complete the submission form per instructions on that page.
- If you need tutorial help, visit the screencasting page on our tutorials site. Links to an external site.
- Submit your assignment by pasting the URL to the submission form. Make sure that the document has been made "viewable" when you share it.
The other cool thing about screencasting is that you can create your own tutorials for students. Just make sure you don’t follow these six steps to ruining your tutorial Links to an external site.. (Even though he says don't type in a screencast, we still want you to type something for the badge.)
I would love for you to explore Canvas a little more and help others get more familiar with it, so if you would like to create a tutorial on a particular feature in Canvas, here is a list of ideas Links to an external site. that you can use.
Don't feel obligated though. Let your imagination run wild. I encourage you to have fun with these and think about what digital skills your students would need to learn.
