Instructions
The midterm will take place in the JFSB testing center at B153. Please see the lab rules document below and sign up for a time using the following link: https://signups.byu.edu/Links to an external site.. Their weekday hours are M-Th 8am–9pm, F 8am–6pm, and Sa 10am–6pm.
The midterm exam will consist of a short-answer portion and an essay portion. There will be ten short-answer questions. Each of these will be worth 2 points. For each, I will ask you to define a specific key terms in approximately 3 sentences. These will be selected from the bolded terms in the study guide below, with relatively equal numbers from each module. You will be graded on how thoroughly you define these terms in relation to what was covered in class and in your readings.
The essay portion of the exam will consist of two essay questions. One of these questions will be broad and require more writing (600+ words) than the others, and will be worth 20 points. The remaining question will be more specific and require less writing (300+ words) and be worth 10 points. These will be graded holistically, using the rubric provided on the Canvas assignment page. Note that both essay questions will allow flexibility in what you reference. Think “write in-depth providing multiple examples across time of this phenomenon we’ve discussed in class” rather than “tell me the details of this specific incident.” The questions will require you to analyze and synthesize, rather than just repeat the facts about particular topics. However, I will want you to cite specific, relevant examples in answering the essay questions (usually from the key terms).
I will be grading this assignment anonymously. Do not put anything in your responses that would tell me who I am grading.
