For this discussion, do the following:
1. Read Module 3.1
2. Explore in-Depth one of the tools listed below. How good would this tool be at displaying information? At supporting collaboration? At protecting students' privacy if needed? When/why would this tool be a good choice for teachers? Also, find what you think is a good example of a teacher using this tool.
Tools:
- Wix (Links to an external site.)
- Wordpress (Links to an external site.): This creates blogs, like Blogger, but that are much more powerful. In fact, many businesses run their entire website on Wordpress.
- Google Sites (Links to an external site.): Please focus on the Classic version of Google Sites.
- Blogs (e.g., Blogger (Links to an external site.)): You can find out more information about using blogs in the classroom by clicking on this link (Links to an external site.).
- Wikis (e.g. Wikispaces (Links to an external site.)): Wikipedia (Links to an external site.) is the best example of a wiki, but wikispaces helps you create your own. See a great list of educational wikis here (Links to an external site.), created by teachers like you.
3. Meet online during our regular class time to share with each other what you learned about the tools so that you can learn from all and be informed about which choice you want to use for the assignment that follows. This meeting will be done synchronously on the web, so please arrange your schedules to attend. Also, please be sure to remind your discussion facilitator to give you the access code for this quiz.
Well before the Zoom meeting, click on the link below and try to join a meeting. If you don't have the Zoom software already on your computer, you may need to install it. Be sure you can get into the meeting, and contact me or my TA in advance if you need help. About 5 minutes before the scheduled meeting, click the link to join the Zoom Meeting:
- Meeting Time: 12 pm (regular class time)
- Zoom Link is in the syllabus
4. Turn in your assignment by entering the access code you received in the synchronous meeting and completing the simple survey. You will receive points for completing the survey regardless of your answers. You must turn in this assignment by midnight on the day of the discussion.
