Digital Storyboard & Lesson Plan
- Now that you have learned some circuitry & microbit basics, we are going to create a digital storyboard using microbits and LEDs. Your digital storyboard should depict a scene from a story/poem/movie that you can light up and control using the micro:bits.
- To begin, you will want to select a short story/poem/movie (or write your own). Then choose one scene from the story that you could illustrate on a piece of foam core board (which can get at the Dollar Store) or cardboard.
- As always, start with decomposition. You'll want to sketch out your scene and then outline where the LEDs, wires, and micro:bit will be located on your storyboard.
- The next step is to decide what you want your code to do. The possibilities are endless! You could include sound, the LED marque on the micro:bit, flashing the fairy lights, using a toggle to turn lights on and off, or even turn on a motor! Remember to include radio communication between two micro:bits in order to reach mastery level on the coding portion of this project. This allows you to mount one micro:bit to the board and control outputs on other.
- In addition to the Micro:bit program itself, you must create a lesson plan on how you will use it in your class. Please use the lesson plan template provided at this link Download template provided at this link . (Don't worry about completing the accommodations portion of the template). This project is open to your own creativity and classroom needs. Look at the rubric to ensure that you demonstrate basic competence and to know what is required to demonstrate greater mastery. The purpose of this project is to demonstrate one way you could integrate technology with English Language Arts as well as the visual arts.
